OUR MISSION
Civic Roots is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that seeks to to empower elementary and middle school students with the knowledge of their constitutional and civil rights by making complex legal principles accessible through lesson plans, workshops, and landmark case studies. By connecting youth with leaders, scholars, and advocates, we aim to fill the gap in early civic education, foster equity and engagement, and inspire a new generation of informed citizens committed to justice and equality.

OUR GUIDING VALUES
EDUCATION
Transforming complex legal and civic concepts into engaging, age-appropriate lessons that help young students understand their constitutional and civil rights. Through creative teaching methods and accessible resources, we make civic learning both empowering and inspiring.
EQUITY & JUSTICE
Promoting equal access to civic education by ensuring that every child, regardless of background or circumstance, can learn about their rights and responsibilities. We uphold fairness, inclusion, and the belief that civic knowledge is a foundation for justice and equality.
EMPOWERMENT
Inspiring students to see themselves as active participants in democracy and future changemakers within their communities. By fostering confidence, curiosity, and leadership, we encourage youth to recognize their voice and potential in shaping a more just society.
ENGAGEMENT
Building meaningful connections between students and the civic world through workshops, mentorship, and real-world case studies. By linking youth with leaders, scholars, and advocates, we turn learning into active participation and cultivate a lifelong investment in civic life.

INSPIRING STORIES
"Civic Roots helped my daughter discover confidence I didn’t even know she had. After attending their workshops, she started speaking up in class, organizing small projects, and talking about community impact at the dinner table. I’m so grateful for a program that doesn’t just teach leadership, it grows it."
Maria R., Parent
"Hosting Civic Roots programs at our library has been one of the most meaningful partnerships we’ve had. Their workshops bring students together, spark curiosity, and create real community engagement. We’ve watched shy teens find their voice and that’s exactly what youth programming should look like."
Janice Lee, Youth Services Librarian
"I never thought I could understand something like constitutional law, but Civic Roots made it fun and easy to learn. The workshops and guest speakers showed me how I can make a difference in my community, and now I feel like my voice actually matters."
Aiden T., 7th Grade Participant
